Dropped $340 on a laser level that could not handle a windy day on a two story wall

Bought a rotary laser level about 4 months back for a big garage job in Boise, and it was a total waste of $340. The thing worked fine inside, but the second I set it up outside on a breezy afternoon, the beam was bouncing all over the place. I was trying to set a course line on a two story wall and could not trust a single reading from it. Ended up going back to my old water level and string, which took longer but at least did not lie to me. I tried to return it but the shop said it was past 30 days, so I ate the whole cost. My foreman just shook his head and said he has seen three guys make the same mistake this year. Now I want to know, does anyone here actually use a laser outside on tall walls, and if so which one holds steady in the wind?
