My bone folder snapped in half while pressing a hinge on Tuesday
I was smoothing out the crease on a leather journal cover and the thing just cracked right in two - guess it was too dry after sitting in my car all week. Anybody else had a tool fail at the worst possible moment like that?

Fourth bone folder I've heard of breaking this month alone... seems like tools just aren't made the way they used to be. Everything's got a shorter lifespan now, from my phone charger to my kitchen knives.

Oh man, tell me about it! @jennifer_west you're totally right, I had almost the same thing happen with a cheap bone folder I got at a craft fair last year. It snapped clean in half while I was trying to flatten a stubborn piece of book cloth, and I was so mad I just threw both pieces in the trash. The material felt really dry and brittle, just like you said about yours sitting in the car, which probably makes them more likely to crack. I've had chisels and scissors let me down at the worst times too, but losing a bone folder right in the middle of a hinge crease is just frustrating. Your mileage may vary, but I think a lot of these newer tools are made with cheaper materials that can't handle normal use anymore.
