Unpopular opinion: Our club spent 45 minutes arguing about the wine and barely touched the actual book
We met at Carol's place on Maple Street last Tuesday to talk about The Remains of the Day, and about 10 minutes in, Doug started in on how the pinot was "objectively wrong" for the theme. Next thing I know, half the group is ranking grocery store brands and the book is just sitting there on the coffee table. I finally asked if we could get back to Stevens and the whole room went quiet like I'd killed the mood. Does anyone else have a member who hijacks every meeting, and how did you get things back on track?
