Not sold on the whole 'super-quench' trend for hardening steel
I watched a guy online last year claim his secret brine mix hardened a railroad spike in one dip. Tried it myself with a coil spring from a Ford F-150 I was working on. Three quenches later, the thing came out soft as butter. The old timers around here in Spokane swear by plain canola oil at 130 degrees. That's never failed me once. Has anyone else had bad results chasing these fancy quench recipes?
