Update: the $400 carbon wheelset that came loose after 2 weeks

I grabbed a budget carbon wheelset from an online deal, figured the weight savings were worth it for my gravel rig near Asheville. By day 9 the rear hub started clicking, then the freehub body grenaded on a steep climb. Anyone else trust cheap carbon for daily riding or do you all stick with alloy hubs on budget builds?

and honestly this is just how it goes with anything that promises way more than it costs. I've seen the same pattern with cheap bike lights, cheap bags, even cheap coffee grinders, you get that initial wow factor and then it falls apart right when you need it most. the real cost of saving money is always paid in frustration later.
