Switched my shop from paper job tickets to a tablet 6 months ago and my comebacks dropped from 5 a month to 1
Six months back I got tired of losing paper tickets under piles of tubes, so I went to a cheap Android tablet with a repair app at my shop here in Boise. The big change was the notes field, because now I type in torque specs and customer complaints right at the stand instead of trying to remember them later. Since then my comeback rate went from about 5 bikes a month to 1, and most of that is me actually writing stuff down instead of guessing. Half the guys I know say screens in the bay are a distraction and paper never dies, and the other half say they'd never go back. What side are you on, does a tablet in the stand help you or just slow you down?
