Steel frame pump mounts make more sense than CO2 for daily riders

I see everyone at the shop pushing CO2 inflators, but for a commuter like me in Portland, nothing beats a frame pump that never runs out. I had a cartridge fail on a cold morning last December, the valve just froze up, and there I was stranded with a flat and no backup. A quality frame pump takes 40 extra seconds but it works every single time for years. Has anyone else gone back to the old way after a CO2 disaster?
