Learned the hard way about chain wear at a shop in Denver last spring

A customer brought in a bike with a snapped chain, and when I checked his cassette it was totally sharktoothed from letting the chain go too long. Now I show everyone the Park Tool chain checker and explain the $0.50 link cost vs. a $100 drivetrain replacement.

Read a blog once where a guy's whole drivetrain died cause he ignored a gritty chain.

Bet the customer still didn't learn and will be back with a worn chainring next time.
