Heard a customer say disc brakes are just a money grab for shops

Some guy was complaining at the register last Saturday about how rim brakes were fine for 30 years and now we're pushing everyone toward disc. I get it's an extra hassle to work on but the stopping power in wet conditions is night and day. Has anyone else had customers try to argue this while you're trying to explain hydro lines vs mechanical?
