My grandpa handed me his 1970s hand grinder and said the electric one makes coffee taste like cardboard
He pulled it out of a cabinet in his garage in Toledo about 8 years back and made me crank it for a full batch, which took me almost 4 minutes and my arm was sore. He told me the slow grind keeps the beans from getting hot, and I honestly thought he was just being an old man about it. Now I own two hand grinders and barely touch the electric one, though a 6am crank session still tests my patience. Anybody else got a piece of old gear they swore off and then came crawling back to?
