Showerthought: I blew $80 on a brisket injection kit and my packer came out worse than the $0 salt and pepper I ran for 2 seasons
If you're new to cooking whole packers, skip the marinade syringes and phosphate blends, because in my own backyard the plain dalmatian rub beat the $80 wet kit at the last 3 Saturday cooks, so what cheap old trick did you drop real cash to learn the hard way?

That $80 kit probably came with a nice box though, and that's what you're really paying for. My own dumb purchase was a $60 "competition" rib rack that just held my ribs up like little soldiers while they dried out. Turns out a plain old cookie sheet did the same job for free, so now it lives in the garage with the other bad ideas.
