That one comment about my CRT TV made me grab it out of the trash
I was hauling an old Sony Trinitron to the curb last Tuesday, 27 inch beast that weighed more than my dog. My neighbor Dave, the guy who runs a retro game shop down on 5th, stopped me and said 'you're not throwing that away, are you?' He told me the composite inputs on those early 2000s models actually handle 240p better than most modern scalers, which I never thought about. Now I've got it sitting on my desk hooked to a 1998 Sega Saturn I bought for $15 at a flea market in Akron, and the picture honestly looks sharper than my 4K monitor does for old games. Has anyone else rescued a CRT from the curb after realizing it was actually good at something specific, or am I just hoarding trash with extra steps?
