Switched from shears to clippers for bald fades after 5 years and got cleaner lines in half the time

I used to fight with shears for 45 minutes on a single fade last Tuesday, but a buddy in Phoenix showed me his clipper-over-comb method and now I'm done in 20 with way less touch-ups - anyone else make a late switch like that?

Gotta ask - what brand of clippers did you finally settle on? I switched to a Magic Clip last year and it changed everything, but I still keep my shears for the hard part near the crown. Did you have to totally change your blending technique or did it just click right away? I'm curious if the clipper-over-comb method works the same for really coarse hair as it does for fine hair, since I've only got experience with the finer stuff. Your 20 minute time sounds insane compared to my usual struggle bus of 45 minutes plus.

Magic Clip here too, though my technique is more "pray and fade" than any refined method. The coarse hair just means the clippers get louder but the 20 minute thing is just desperation, not skill.
