I grab fallen seeds from city gardens for my balcony starts.

Call it URBAN foraging, not theft, when seeds are on the ground.

Last week at Bryant Park garden, I watched someone fill a bag with fallen marigold seeds. The gardeners there leave those on purpose so they grow back next year. If you take them, the beds will be bare in spring. Saying it's foraging doesn't make it right, it's still taking stuff that isn't yours. I'm honestly shocked people think this is fine. It's like grabbing free samples from a store without permission.

My friend saw the same thing @river_hart18, and now her favorite park spot is just dirt.

Seriously, that's not just foraging, it's stealing beauty from the whole community next spring.
