Honestly, my attempt at a croquembouche for my mom's 60th birthday last month was a total disaster that turned into a weird win.

So what ended up happening with yours? My buddy tried making a fancy cake for his wife and the whole thing fell apart. He just smashed the pieces into a trifle bowl with some custard and called it a "deconstructed masterpiece." She loved it. Kind of like what @charlie_fisher45 said, a win is a win even if it's messy.
