Spent $40 on a cheap digital scale for my bread, and it nearly ruined a month of bakes
Bought a no name digital scale off a deal site for about $40 and figured it was fine for weighing flour. Turns out it drifted about 4 grams on every scoop, so my 70% hydration dough was really closer to 75% some days and I could not figure out why it kept turning sticky. I finally checked it against my old $12 kitchen scale with a 500g weight and the cheap one was off by 9 grams at that load. Went back to the cheap one and just started taring twice before every pour, which fixed most of the drift. Anyone else had a scale quietly drift on them, and did you ever find a cheap one that actually holds a true reading?
