Pro tip: learned more about game design from one random player than 5 years of forums

I was running a small indie game dev booth at PAX East back in 2019 and this kid maybe 12 years old played my demo for like 20 minutes. He told me the jump felt floaty because the hang time was too long compared to the running speed. I brushed him off at first but tested it later and he was 100% right. Has anyone else had a stranger just nail a critique like that?

Yeah man totally, I had some random guy at a bus stop tell me my card game idea was too complicated just by looking at the box art. Changed the whole design after that and it actually worked way better lol.

Had a buddy who spent months designing a board game, then his 10 year old nephew said the instructions "look boring". He cut the text by half and added more pictures. Sold out his first print run in a week.
