Guy running the retro game booth at a Portland swap meet told me my RPG backlog system was 'a spreadsheet for feelings'
I had a whole color coded sheet on my phone for sorting 47 unfinished RPGs into tiers by mood, and he watched me scroll through it for maybe 30 seconds before saying that line. Then he said just put the game you actually want to play on top of the pile and stop pretending the rest is a schedule. So I deleted the sheet and made one dumb rule: whatever I touch last sits on the nightstand, no tiers, no tags. Three weeks in, I beat two games I'd been sitting on since 2021. Does anyone else keep a system just to avoid picking a game, or is that a me thing?
