Bad take: quick saving in stealth games is cheating and I don't care how mad that makes you
Played through Dishonored 2 last spring and decided around mission 4 that I would not reload a single save unless I actually died. No take backs, no do overs because a guard spotted me. Took me 9 extra hours to beat it and I ghosted the whole run clean.
Here is the thing nobody wants to hear. The quicksave button is a difficulty slider wearing a disguise. Every time you tap it you are telling the game you want the guard to not see you, and the game just gives it to you. Where is the stealth in that? The tension is the entire point. The moment you might get caught is the moment the game is actually working.
People say they save scum because they don't have time. Cool, then turn the difficulty down and stop pretending. Those are two different things and one of them is honest.
Am I wrong or did games get way less scary once everyone started treating the F5 key like a save point?
