Found out the average car owner keeps their ride 12.5 years, and my warranty story finally makes sense
I was reading a story about car ownership trends and saw that people hold onto their cars for 12.5 years on average now, which is way up from like 8 or 9 years back in the 2000s. That number hit me because I just got hit with a $1,400 repair bill on my 2016 Civic at 98,000 miles, and my extended warranty from the dealer ran out at 100k so I missed it by 2,000 miles. Has anyone here actually had good luck buying a third party warranty on a car that old, or is that money just gone?
