Stopping cold engine startups saved my buddy's truck from major damage
I mean, I always heard letting it warm up was old school, but idk. My friend kept firing up his diesel and going right away, and it started knocking. We checked the oil, and it was sludgy from not getting hot enough. Maybe it's just me, but a minute of patience beats a rebuild any day. He listened, and now that engine runs smooth as butter.

Sludge like that is no joke.

Hold on, I've always heard that modern engines don't need long warm-ups. My mechanic says idling too long can let fuel mix with the oil and cause issues. Maybe the sludge was from not driving long enough to burn off moisture?

Ever dealt with sludge from too many short trips? My old car had the same issue until I started taking it for a solid 20-minute drive once a week to get everything hot. Changing the oil a bit more often cleared it right up.
