Ran .060 on every SBC valve for two years because a guy told me once at a swap meet

I was doing a valve job on a 350 in my garage back in Ohio and my old boss stopped by, watched me set the exhaust lash, and just said "who told you that." He grabbed my feeler gauge, showed me the spec card I had never once looked at, and sure enough I had been running the same lash on intake and exhaust since 2019. That one habit ate two cams on customer trucks before I ever caught it. What dumb shortcut did somebody hand you that you ran with way too long?
