Customers keep pushing for cheap patches over proper repairs lately

I've seen a HUGE jump in people who just want us to quiet a noise or hide a problem without fixing the root cause. Had a vehicle last Tuesday with obvious steering issues, and the owner only cared about the clunk sound going away. It's SCARY because skipping real repairs can lead to big trouble on the road. We have to talk them into letting us do the job right, which eats up so much time. This short-cut thinking seems to be a real trend now.

Yeah, read an article calling that 'band-aid maintenance' and it's spot on. Those cheap fixes always fail at the worst possible time.
