Unpopular opinion: knocking down a blend with a scuff pad before buffing fixed my halo problem
I kept getting these ugly halo rings on silver and light blue repaints at my bay in Toledo, and I was burning through compound trying to buff them out. Last Thursday I started hitting the blend zone with a gray scuff pad on a DA at low speed before I even touched the buffer. The halo ring disappeared on the first pass, and I cut my buffing time on a full door skin from about 25 minutes down to 12. I don't know why my old lead guy in Dayton never mentioned this to me. Has anyone else tried scuffing before buffing, or do you all go straight to wool?
