My uncle's 'just rev it harder' sled advice cost me a belt in Silver Lake

He swore his 1998 Polaris could take full throttle from a dead stop on glare ice, so I tried it on my 2016 Ski-Doo and the drive belt shredded within 20 feet, has anyone else had a relative's old-school trick blow up on them?
