Tracked my backyard astro shots for 6 months and the jump in detail had nothing to do with my camera
I started shooting the Orion Nebula from my driveway in Reno every clear night since last October, same camera, same lens, same tripod. The first batch looked like gray smudge, then around month three the shots suddenly showed dust lanes and color. The only thing that changed was taking 40 dark frames and 20 flats before each session, then stacking them in Siril. It added maybe 15 minutes to each night but the difference was night and day. Anyone else put off calibration frames way too long before finally trying them?
