Appreciation post: Jupiter through a 6 inch vs 10 inch dob... am I crazy?
I keep seeing people say aperture doesn't matter as much for planetary photography because stacking software fixes everything. But I spent last Tuesday comparing shots of Jupiter from my 6 inch scope and a buddy's 10 inch under the same sky conditions. The detail on the 10 inch was way sharper, even with the same camera and processing steps. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like people underestimate how much resolution you lose with smaller scopes for planets. Anyone else notice a big jump going from 6 to 8 or 10 inches?
