PSA: Please stop asking if Mercury is in retrograde as a joke answer for everything
I have been on this forum for over 2 years now and I swear every third thread that asks a serious question like why their phone battery drains fast or why their sleep is messed up gets at least one reply saying Mercury is in retrograde. I am not even talking about astrology people, I mean random folks who think it is a funny way to dodge giving a real answer. Last Tuesday someone asked why their sourdough starter smelled like acetone and the top comment was a retrograde joke with 47 likes, while the actual fix (pouring off the hooch and feeding it twice a day) sat at the bottom. This bugs me because this is supposed to be an ask anything community where you can get real help, and jokes like that train people to think every weird problem is random nonsense instead of something you can actually troubleshoot. I know because my sister almost tossed a $200 stand mixer over a grinding noise until I told her to check the beater height screw. So here is my ask: can we agree to just answer the actual question first and save the jokes for after the real answer gets posted?
