Watched a grad student in Rome piece together 6 shards from a trash pit, and it changed how I see broken pottery
I was at a dig site outside Rome two summers ago when a grad student pulled 6 tiny shards from a medieval trash pit. She spent about 40 minutes fitting them together like a puzzle and ended up with half a jug. Before that I always walked past broken pottery on surveys thinking it was junk. Now I stop and actually look at edges and curves. Anyone else have a moment in the field that changed how you sort finds?
