Just read about a huge Roman shipwreck found off the coast of Sicily
I was looking at a report from the University of Malta and saw they found a wreck with over 2,000 amphorae still on board. It's from around 200 BC and is sitting in about 400 feet of water near the island of Ustica. The size of the cargo is way bigger than I thought they could carry back then. Has anyone else seen the 3D scans they made of it?

Honestly that's amazing, but I heard it was found near Malta, not Sicily. The 3D scans are still super cool though.

You might be right about Malta, @hernandez.ben, but the whole Mediterranean gets a little fuzzy after a few thousand years underwater. The important part is that someone pulled up a chunk of history and made a digital copy for us to poke at. Getting the exact spot wrong just gives the map nerds something to argue about, which they love. The scans let us see details we'd never get from a blurry photo, and that's what matters most. Frankly, I'm just happy we can all look at it without having to get on a boat.

My sense of direction is so bad I'd probably get lost trying to find the boat anyway.
