Is there a trick to spotting fake artifacts at rock and gem shows?

I picked up a supposed Clovis point at a show in Tucson last month for $40, and now I'm pretty sure it's a modern knockoff. How do you guys tell the difference without a loupe or sending it to a lab?

Used to trust my gut on these but a buddy showed me how modern tool marks are way too uniform, totally changed my outlook on old stone tools.
