Old rope climbing vs spikes, I made the switch for good

I used to climb with spikes on every removal, even the easy ones. About 8 months ago a big oak in Portland had a rotten base and spikes would have been a disaster. I switched to rope and friction saver for that job and haven't looked back since. Question is, how many of you still rely on spikes for routine pruning and have you had any close calls because of it?
