I finally stopped fighting lightning strikes and started planning for them

After 22 years in this trade I always thought lightning damage was just bad luck, but the oak on Maple Street in Austin took three separate strikes over two summers and I kept treating each one like it was isolated. The last cleanup took 6 days including a crane rental, and that finally pushed me to change my inspection checklist to flag any tree with prior strike marks for proactive cabling or removal talk with the owner. Has anyone else dealt with a repeat strike tree that they wished they'd handled differently the first time?
