Had a customer tell me I should just replace the whole dryer instead of fixing the belt
Was at a house in Raleigh yesterday doing a belt swap on a 5 year old Samsung dryer. Customer walks in while I'm working, says why not just buy a new one, they're only like 500 bucks now. Told him I've done this exact fix on dryers from the 90s that still run fine. He didn't get it. Anyone else run into people who think nothing is worth fixing anymore?

Totally agreed with @wren_smith44, people just don't see how a quick cheap fix beats tossing a whole machine that still works.

People are brainwashed into thinking new always equals better. A belt swap costs like fifteen bucks and takes twenty minutes, way cheaper than a whole new machine. Planned obsolescence has folks convinced their perfectly good dryer is junk when it's just a minor fix.
