Update: a guy at the swap meet told me to stop cleaning my NES carts with alcohol and I finally switched to a pencil eraser
He said the alcohol dries out the pins and leaves a film, and honestly my 3 blinking light games booted first try after I rubbed the contacts with a white eraser and blew them out. Now I keep a Staedtler on the shelf next to the console instead of a Q-tip and bottle. Anyone else have a cart that only works after a certain weird ritual, or is it just my copy of Contra?
