My 12 year old nephew asked why his old iPod Classic needs a new battery every 2 days, and his reaction to my answer changed how I fix stuff now
He handed me his iPod Classic, a 2007 model with 4,500 songs on it, and complained that the battery dies by lunch. I started explaining mAh ratings and cycle counts and he just stared at me. Then he asked, 'So why not plug it in while you sleep like your phone?' I had zero good reason. I'd been swapping batteries and rebuilding drives for other people's gear for years but charging my own player like it was a car with an empty tank. That night I dug out a 30 pin dock cable I'd been hoarding since a garage sale in Tacoma and set it up by my bed. Three days in the thing still shows a full bar at 6pm. Anyone else got a gadget they've been fighting when the fix was just changing one dumb habit?
