A pilot in Phoenix told me something that stuck with me about our job

I was doing a walkaround with a captain after a long day, just going over a small squawk on a 737. He was quiet, then just said, 'You know, I trust you guys with my life more than I trust myself some days.' He said it so plain, just a fact. It happened right there on the tarmac in the Arizona heat. That kind of quiet respect, from someone who depends on our work so directly, it really hits different. Has a pilot ever said something to you that made you see your role in a new light?

Had a captain in Denver tell me once that our signatures in the logbook were the only reason he could sleep at night. It was just a passing comment while we waited for fuel, but man, it reframed the whole job for me. That weight of trust, when you actually stop to think about it, is huge. Makes you want to triple check every single latch and line.

Used to just sign stuff, now I get it.
