Hit 1,000 hours in an AI painting tool and didn't notice until last week
I've been using this image generator for about two years now, mostly for making concept art for my D&D games. Last week I checked my stats and saw I had crossed 1,000 hours of generation time. That number felt way too high for something I started as a joke. It really hit me how much the tech has changed too. Back when I started, you could barely get a face that didn't look like a melted doll. Now I can do full scenes with decent hands and consistent characters. It's wild to think I've spent that much time just tweaking prompts and waiting for images to load. Anyone else have a number like that creep up on them and make you rethink how much you actually use this stuff?

Oh wow, that's crazy! 1,000 hours is like a part time job or something haha. I bet your D&D group gets some awesome custom art out of it though, that's a really cool way to use the tool.

Is it really that crazy though? I mean, people spend thousands of hours watching TV or scrolling social media without blinking an eye. 1,000 hours over a few years for something you actually create with and learn from doesn't seem wasteful to me. It's about what you value, and custom D&D art is way more meaningful than mindless scrolling in my book. Plus, learning a tool that well takes real dedication, not just casual use. Don't you think calling it a "part time job" kind of undersells how cool it is to get that good at something?
