My AI sunset picture had 6 suns in it, so I fixed it by hand
I was messing around with an AI image tool last Tuesday night in my apartment in Tulsa and asked it for a simple sunset over a lake. What came back had six suns in the sky and the dock was floating above the water. I almost deleted it, but instead I opened it in a free editor and spent about 40 minutes painting over the extra suns and redrawing the dock with my mouse. My girlfriend looked at the final version and said it looked like a real painting, which made me think about the whole debate here. Does fixing a broken AI picture with my own hands make it art, or does the tool always get the credit? I honestly still don't know, so tell me where you draw the line.
Ever spend 40 minutes fixing something and then wonder if you even made it better? Honestly that's most of my editing sessions. The six suns thing is just the tool being dumb, it doesn't know sunsets have one sun, so yeah you had to go in and clean up its mess. But here's the thing, you still made the call on what to keep, what to paint over, and how to redraw that dock, and that's the part the tool can't do. If your girlfriend sees a painting and not a robot picture, that says something about the work you put in. Ngl I'd count it as yours, mostly.
