Found a 1955 fridge ad in my grandpa's shed in Fresno and the price floored me
The tag said a brand new Frigidaire went for $289 back then, which got me digging through his old pay stubs from the raisin plant and now I can't stop comparing 1950s wages to prices, so does anyone know a good way to figure out what those dollars are worth today?
That $289 fridge was like 1/4 of his yearly pay, which is wild when you think most folks today don't blink at dropping a grand on one. The old CPI calculators online work fine, but they miss how much less stuff people owned back then.
