It happens sometimes.

If your animal is a neonate you can sometimes get away with that perch size formula but I would recommend something much smaller, i.e. pencil size for neonate’s uptown 1.5" diameter for full adults. As a rule, emeralds DO NOT like large diameter perches.

Give a smaller perch a try but don't put too much store in the results. I think you'll find in a while she/he 'll begin acting like your typical ETB again.
