I bet there is alot of work buried out there that may provide some clues. seems most comes from vet schools.
It also may not hurt to contact one of the lead authors with any pertinent questions. There must be a vet directory with e-mail addresses and you would be surprised that some investigators may take the time to answer an e-mail from a knowelgable and interested
herper.

as far as the possible role of cryptosporidium and ERS:
why would only CC get ERS if crypto is found in so many species? I just have a feeling it is a virus based on the anectodal reports of how several US and Canadian collections were wiped out in such a short period (literally just weeks).

Personally, I have only had one CC die well over 10 years ago from chronic regurg and I blame over feeding and high temperature (and not having the benefit of forums like this to learn proper husbandry).
