WP's commentary on the sham of our so-called debates and even greater sham called democracy, is right on. We need no further proofs than any concerned citizen sees & hears every night on Keith Oberman, Lou Dobbs, John Stewart or any news program. Not to mention the sobering facts of Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, and COUNTLESS other writings and bloggings who now number in the thousands, for anyone to read.
Unfortunately, as a recent response indicates, the vast majority are still asleep at the wheel and dreaming of a man or woman on a white horse who will snap a finger & lead them out of the woods. And promise them all the answers in advance. But, as in all fairytales, the way out of the woods lies 'not in our stars but in ourselves'.
To those who ironically find WP's comments incomplete Irecommend to keep reading & thinking & searching for good answers. For many, this site offers the best so far:
1.analyse the systemic economic cause of our social problems (legalized robbery & corruption thru the private ownership of the means & goals of social production for private profit for the very few)..and
2. analyse Capitalism's impact on the freedom & well-being of We,the people who actually create all social wealth thru our daily labor (now re-distributed thru the legalized system of fraud, as wage slavery, which gives about 2/3 of the wealth derived from our social production to the owners & its system of control/The State.... while leaving less than a third --thru our paycheck--to We,the working people who created the wealth they call theirs! AND thereby also leaving an impoverished & poorly funded social system we must endure, in its wake.
3. Stay resolved on building an organized movement based on this understanding and a pretty well formed idea of how a future New Society could actually work.
Pretty clear once you open your mind & eyes, hard to see "With Eyes Wide Shut".
Yes, the "Great Debates" are just another part of the "Great Sham" we Americans persist on allowing. When it becomes clear that no debate exists between the parties because they are both, as Noam Chomsky calls them, "The Corporate Parties" and represent what Ralph Nadar calls "The Corporate State" (aka Facism)maybe new voices can get heard- or better yet, demanded and then listened to.
To we Forum readers, lets keep asking questions, and moving toward organizing a newly re-energized movement... all of us who agree that peacefully replacing worn-out Capitalism with Democratic Socialism (Participatory,Economic & Civic Democracy) is the only way to establish the better, healthier,
happier society we all know is possible, need to join together 'post-haste'.
