In his latest so-called “News” conference in which the billion dollar money supply to jobless and moneyless Americans who are expected to spoend our tax moneies to keep capitalism going…, President Bush, oil capitalist, saw no Recession or Depression in our future, never talked about poverty in capitalist America, …, and who , like many of our Major Party reactionary defenders of capitalism…, undoubtedly believes American Wage workers are the “richest” poor people in the world (This must be a word play spoof on George Carlin’s “Jumbo shrimp” routines )

But facts are undeniable…There are millions of Americans who endure daily their personal recessions and depressions. Capitalism’s value system has our political repo in Washington accepting a 5 or 6 percent unemployment of working Americans as a virtual “Full Employment” state of the economy, which is an unintended admission that this economic system simply cannot, does not work for all of us.

Here are some facts that we will never hear from OUR “All for capitalism” political representatives…

Last year’s Census Bureau numbers show that nearly 6 percent of all working Americans lived in poverty last year -- a level that's remained stubbornly high.

Not surprising, the rise in the number of married couples in poverty, since they are traditionally the most resilient demographic. In 2003, 3.1 million married couples lived in poverty, with 53 percent of poor families headed by a married couple, a dramatic increase from 2001 when 2.8 million married couples were poor.

William Dickens, an economist with the Brookings Institution, agrees that the gap between rich and poor is widening, but he says, "in the last 30 years, it has taken robust economic growth for wage gains at the bottom of the income bracket. In general, this has not been a roaring recovery."

But Dickens says even in this period of weak economic recovery, workers can get by, if they are educated and flexible enough. More education translates to better pay, according to Dickens.

But as skilled American workers compete with a growing number of well educated and cheaper overseas workers, the wage gap in the U.S. will most likely continue to grow, says Kent Hughes, an economist with the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC. Hughes believes that the already limber American worker is going to have to become even more flexible as jobs traditionally reserved for white-collar American workers, such as computer programming, are being done more cheaply abroad.

Poverty in America is not simply a statistic which fills up the Census Bureau reports. It means these are real, live people, and there are thousands in our states and communities who try to make it through each day by playing by the “rules,” and there are many who can’t if they and their families are to survive. Their kids need school stuff…, they need jobs…, they need some of the ordinary moments of fun time…, like a movie or some real fun time like food on the table. Some steal from others…, usually from businesses where they think is the money…, and sadly, too often from small businesses where the cash itself is not very abundant…It makes for a socially insecure existence…

We lock our cars when shopping…., when we call it a day…We count our change and check out our sales receipt after shopping…More and more are now people avoiding the “high end” stores…, and many look at their first choice “Dollar” stores …, which, not surprisingly, are beginning to pop up is our neighborhoods…, a sign of the Today’s times…, and a foreboding sign for our future.
