Liz Arnone's comments are correct...Only when we Americans wake up and realize, as Walter Petrovich says in his interview, "there are more of US than there are of THEM" will the potential INHERENT in the vote become real. But while we can support third parties in order to at least 'practice' the concept of choice,---and since have no Economic Democracy party candidate on the national level right now--- We have to go further than thinking a vote for Ralph will in any fundamental way actually provide solutions to our overwhelming societal & global problems. Only a true alternative voice, which supports replacing Capitalism & its corporate Profit system with TRUE Democracy--will we begin to move toward solutions.
Democracy is only viable when it is a natural and
everyday part of our culture- in which 'we take for granted our right to decide' how the wealth and
goods & services that we, the working & productive people who labor to create whatever benefits we 'enjoy' today....only when we vote on ALL MATTERS that affect us...where we live AND WHERE WE WORK...only then will the PROMISE of democracy symbolized by the ballot- become a reality. Without excercising control over what we produce, how we spend & allocate our national wealth & resources, what kind of energy, food, transportation, education, healthcare,
child & senior care-- yes even the TOOTHPASTE we use---
until WE GET TO DECIDE EVERYDAY HOW WE WILL LIVE TOGETHER, whether or not Ralph Nadar runs & gets a vote ISN"T THE BIG ISSUE!! We need fundamental, basic and REAL change...We need to inform ourselves, family & our friends about a better way of coming together as a society. We need Democratic SOCIALISM. And we need it "now". Thank you Liz for recognizing that as Americans we at least still have the freedom to vote for whomever we feel is the best candidate. Within the present system, Ralph Nadar appeals to many. But wouldn't it be great if someday soon we begin to demand
MORE...real representatiobn of our needs & wants...and vote for a new society & a new way to effectively solve our problems? We must begin.
