Hello, Laurie,
I should also say, in more direct response to your question: while working to persuade people of the necessity of a CS (Cooperative Society), and while continuing to educate yourself on this necessity, you may certainly involve yourself in whatever "reform" issue is of interest to you--healthcare, homelessness, minimum wage, whatever.
Actually, PCS recommends that you learn as much as you can about a particular reform area, become what we call a "mini-expert, then learn precisely how capitalism causes or exacerbates that particular problem, then join the reform movement or a reform organization attempting to address that problem, whether GreenPeace, Common Cause, Amnesty International, whatever--and use your knowledge and insight to influence the individuals in that movement or organization to realize that capitalism, itself, is the actual culprit, and that capitalism must be changed if their issue is ever to be permanently resolved.
I should also say at this point that the PCS analysis, unlike PFANS or any similar organization, also points to human narcissism, in concert with capitalism, as a root cause of our many problems. Thus do we pose a two-part solution: replacement of capitalism, and implementation of the ethic of agape or "brotherly love" in the new society.
Economic change, and personal change.
Visit the PCS site--you'll see.
Best,
