I guess the closest, publically, he came was in 2006, when asked by the Washington Post, "Are you now, or have you even been a socialist?"

He responded, "Yeah. I wouldn't deny it. Not for one second. I'm a democratic socialist."

I enjoy listening to him speak.... and wish others would, too. We need more folks in congress willing to speak up and out, but Bernie offers no systemic alternatives... no solutions other than band-aids...

Were he, without widespread support, to use his platform to offer up an alternative to the present system, he would be unceremoniously replaced... in a Haliburton Heartbeat.
