With little or no agreement as to the term socialism, especially as a particular
socio-economic system - discussing "the mechanics of" such a system is is a
pretty pointless exercize - I have found anyway. I don't talk about Socialism
anymore, I talk about worker collective control of means of production and
distribution. I used to think that collective worker control had to be an all or
nothing thing for the entire economy all at once - sweeping away the entire
capitalist system and the political state. I have modified those ideas greatly,
abandoning as well much of the Marxist rhetoric that for many years I used to
quote chapter and verse. I'll stop here and see if these comments generate any
