Bernie has never identified himself as a socialist, never ran on a party with the word socialist in its name.

The closest he comes is to say that he is in favor of social democracy LIKE THEY HAVE IN EUROPE (where supposedly exploitation of the worker at the point of production does not exist - yeah right).

Bernie is in favor of Bernie. Way back in the 80s I was helping an independent socialist run for mayor of a small village in the Catskill Mtns. in NYS. Bernie had just won the mayoralty of Burlington Vt. supposedly he was a socialist - that's what the newspaper headlines said anyway. We wrote to Bernie asking him to say a word in favor of our man's candidacy. We sent him a nice leaflet that fully explained the platform.

No dice, came the answer, Bernie doesn't support other candidates, period.

A "new society" to be built on that?
