Isn't what you are suggesting akin to a land grab?

No doubt the workers can manage their own workplace and make decisions, but the tools of production are privately owned.

Wouldn't it be a criminal act to assume ownership of the tools of production?

Or would it work like eminent domain? The tools would be seized, and the former owners paid a fair price.....
